Bilharzia Storytelling Lab 2024

This past week, I participated in the Bilharzia Storytelling Lab 2024 as a storyteller. It was an intensive experience that combined creativity with problem-solving and a strong focus on action.

The Lab utilized a human-centered design thinking approach, where the target audience is central to developing solutions. This meant collaborating with a diverse team of storytellers, health experts, and non-profit representatives. This unique mix of backgrounds was essential for crafting creative and impactful solutions to raise awareness about bilharzia and its prevention.

Overall, the Bilharzia Storytelling Lab was a refreshing and thought-provoking program. It was an exceptional opportunity to develop creative solutions alongside a passionate and skilled team.

As part of their efforts to raise awareness on the causes of bilharzia and ways to prevent it, Merck have introduced the concept of the Bilharzia Storytelling Lab.
The lab builds on the human-centered design thinking approach, developed by Dalberg Media, a mission-driven communications and experience consultancy, which seeks to empower and mobilize people to solve global development challenges by collective, sustained action. This approach puts the risk group at the core of the solutions development and brings together local storytellers to work with experts from health organizations and non-profits to ensure solutions are both creative and effective.
